Union Ultimate’s February Frisbee Fling!

Monday, December 9, 2013 0 Comment
February is no longer a month reserved for Valentines Day lovers or Family Day family guys. Ultimate frisbee flingers around the world are invited to a fling for the ages on February 8th, 2014. Commonly referred to as Union Ultimate’s FEBRUARY FRISBEE FLING or triple F, this event has all the making of an epic party.

What will make the Frisbee Fling epic?

Firstly, there will be an open bar.  You heard that right, the bar will be wide open!  Don’t waste precious time pre-drinking by your lonesome.  Make your way down to the Sports Centre Cafe when the doors open at 8:00 p.m. and have a drink with your favourite Frisbee friends and potential new friends too!

Secondly, a DJ will be playing your favourite songs all night long while you light up the dance floor.

Thirdly, there will be a raffle of some pretty exciting things like 6 signed, authentic NHL jerseys, to name a few of things you can win!  Imagine this, you’re drinking your drink and dancing your dance when suddenly you win an awesome raffle item!  The Fling just can’t get any better…

… Oh wait it can.  Fourthly you’ll be supporting your fellow Union Ultimate Frisbee friends as they fund-raise for the 2014 season and their way towards the World Club Championships in Lecco Italy.

Get your tickets before they all run out! It’s easy, you can:
1. Find someone selling tickets at your local frisbee league (possibly a Union team member)
2. Send us a Facebook message here.
3. Send us an e-mail at union.ultimate@gmail.com.

The Details:
When: 8:00 p.m., Saturday February 8, 2014
Where: Sports Centre Cafe (49 St. Clair Ave.)
Price: $60 each

Hope to see you flingers there!

2013 Canadian National Mixed Ultimate Champions!

Tuesday, October 1, 2013 0 Comment

Welcome to our new website!

We’re very excited to launch this website.  Our hope is that this site will be the one-stop-shop for everything UNION – blog posts, pictures, videos, player bios, results and contact info.  Eventually we hope to have sponsorship and merchandise information as well.

First off:  We are CANADIAN ULTIMATE CHAMPIONS!

We are extremely proud of this.  But we are not done there, we earned a berth to the 2014 World Club Championships in Lecco, Italy, and we expect to expand our hardware cabinet.

UNION is an elite Ultimate team whose bonds off the field bolster our strength on it. Our efforts will be driven and focused by our core values of Respect, Attitude, and Work.

RESPECT is for our teammates, that they will do what they need to do to make us stronger, and vice versa. It’s for the captains, who have a tough job and need your support as much as you need theirs. It’s open communication amongst the whole team and having the strength to share & to listen. It’s for our opponents, so that we compete fairly and underestimate no one. It’s for yourself, so that you bring your best, every time.

ATTITUDE is in your approach to the game – playing with intent and fierce determination. It’s about fostering healthy relationships with your captains and teammates. It’s about having the humility and awareness to self-evaluate. It’s striving to be a better player, so that you look at everything as a learning experience — feedback, your opponents, your teammates — so that every time you step on the field you’re better than before.

WORK is about having the industriousness and fortitude to persevere through the above. It’s a reminder of how there is simply no substitution for sweat and effort. Work is the commitment we make to each other, because with it and it alone we can win games, inspire teammates, and strengthen one another.
